Creation of the Cave la Romaine

It is in Vaison-la-Romaine that one of the oldest cooperative cellars in the region was born, founded in 1924: the Cave Coopérative la Romaine

It now brings together 180 winegrowers gathered around a production area of more than 1400 hectares of vines.

The first cooperative in the sector, created in 1924, the "Vaison et du Haut-Comtat" cellar (in reference to the Comtat Venaissin to which Vaison was attached until 1971) became "La Romaine" in 1987.

In addition to its inter-municipal vocation, it has the originality of straddling the Haut Vaucluse and the Drôme Provenç

A Roman city

Geographically and culturally Vaison-la-Romaine is at a crossroads. This small town with a prestigious past is nourished by multiple influences that can be found in the diversity and richness of the historical and natural heritage. Witness the Roman bridge and the ancient theatre, built more than 2000 years ago, and Mont Ventoux, the giant of Provence, which has watched over the former capital Voconce for centuries.

A great diversity of AOP

The Rhône Valley has the particularity of being made up of a “mosaic of terroirs”, having given birth to a wide range of appellations: IGP Méditerranée, AOP Ventoux, AOP Côtes du Rhône, AOP Côtes du Rhône Villages, and AOP Côtes du Rhône Cru Gigondas.
