The winery La Romaine is located in Vaucluse, deep in the heart of Provence and the Côtes du Rhône area. Our winery, founded in 1924 produces annually 45000 Hls of Côtes du Rhône , 12000 Hls of Côtes du Ventoux and 20000 Hls of Vins de Pays ( Vins de Pays des Portes de la Méditerranée and Vins de Pays des Baronnies ). Four years ago, the wine growers have implemented a strategy for producing high-quality wines, by improving upon steps in our processes from production to commercialization.
PRODUCTION :
A geographic map of our area of production was made in order to classify the soil type, and in that way, to increase the value of our grapes: Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Mourvèdre or Merlot. The wine growers are assisted all along the cultural process by technicians who bring them a technical follow-up.
WINERY:
The winery has invested in vinification material to obtain fruity wines. The cooling system allows us to vinify at rather low temperatures. We have installed new pneumatic presses to improve the juice extraction. So, we are now able to work on the characteristics of our wines and to make the wines by soil type: fruity, full bodied, fat, roundness, with red fruit perfumes.
COMMERCIALIZATION :
All our range of wines has been renewed. The bottles and their packaging are completely new. We propose more attractive bottles with modern labels. The cellar has been modernized and offers also other products from Provence: olive oil, tapenade, honey and nougats. Our strategy and the efforts made by the wine growers have borne fruit.
We have obtained 21 medals in various wine competitions since the beginning of 2005:
5 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 1 bronze medal in Orange on last January; 1 gold medal, 4 silver medals and 1 bronze medal in Paris on last February and 1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze medals in Macon.
